VISION

Create a national culture in which young Indians transform real-world problems into practical innovations contributing to Viksit Bharat.

MISSION

Provide a structured 100-day pathway from problem identification to concept, design, prototype, validation, deployment and impact.

PHILOSOPHY

“The Challenge begins not with an idea, but with a problem observed by a young Indian in his or her own surroundings; and it does not end with an award, but with a solution that can reach the beneficiary.”

The philosophy of SEWA FIRST – Rashtriya Youth Innovation Challenge 2026 is rooted in the belief that innovation should begin with service and end with impact. It encourages young Indians to observe real problems around them, understand the needs of people and communities, and transform these challenges into practical, affordable, sustainable and implementable solutions.

01

Observe

Look around, explore real-world challenges and opportunities.

02

Identify

Pinpoint key problems that need solutions.

03

Understand

Analyse, learn and gain deeper insights.

04

Innovate

Think differently and explore new possibilities.

05

Create

Develop prototypes, solutions or models.

06

Demonstrate

Test, validate and showcase your solution.

07

Implement

Scale and deploy for real-world use.

08

Benefit

AIM

To encourage the youth of India to observe and identify real problems in their own surroundings in their villages, towns, cities, districts and communities and to transform these problems into opportunities for innovation by developing sustainable, affordable and implementable solutions, culminating in the creation and demonstration of working prototypes.

“The Challenge begins not with an idea, but with a problem observed by a young Indian in his or her own surroundings; and it does not end with an award, but with a solution that can reach the beneficiary.”

OBJECTIVES

01

Problem Identification

Encourage young people to identify genuine problems and unmet needs in their local communities.

02

Local-to-National Innovation

Enable solutions emerging from local problems to address similar challenges.

03

Innovation & Creativity

Encourage youth to develop novel approaches using science, technology, engineering, and design.

04

Solution Development

Move participants beyond conceptual ideas towards design, development, and implementation.

05

Prototype Creation

Require promising solutions to culminate in working prototypes or proof-of-concepts.

06

Sustainability & Affordability

Promote solutions that are environmentally sustainable, viable, and affordable.

07

Implementation Pathway

Require innovators to define the resources, cost, timeline, and arrangements necessary.

08

Mentoring & Support

Connect young innovators with faculty, experts, industry, and support institutions.

09

Field Validation

Facilitate testing and validation of promising solutions in real or representative environments.

10

Innovation-to-Impact

Create a pathway for successful innovations to be scaled and create real-world impact.

UNIQUE FEATURES

The Challenge focuses on converting real, locally identified problems into sustainable, affordable and implementable solutions, rather than merely generating ideas or concepts. Its unique feature is the emphasis on taking an innovation from the problem stage to real-world impact: participants are expected to understand the identified problem, develop an appropriate solution, build a working prototype and validate it in a relevant environment.

The Challenge further emphasizes affordability, sustainability, field validation, user feedback and scalability, ensuring that successful innovations are not limited to prototypes but have a clear pathway towards adoption, replication and deployment for the intended beneficiaries.

Unique Features - Complete Innovation Pathway

Every solution must demonstrate a complete pathway
